The NEP 2020 guidelines propose key changes in higher education, moving towards a more multidisciplinary model of undergraduate education and revamping curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and student support to enhance student learning experiences. It emphasizes capacity-building programs for STEM faculty to improve the quality of higher education through updated disciplinary knowledge, innovative pedagogy, experiential learning, research orientation, inclusion, and stronger student outcomes.
In line with these goals, this workshop aims to empower undergraduate biology faculty with evidence‑based pedagogical practices and support them in developing teaching–learning modules and assessments. The workshop will lay the foundation for discipline‑based education research in biology by enabling participants to design evidence‑based teaching and assessment, use classroom data for reflection and improvement, and study motivation and retention among students. It will also include a need‑based assessment of faculty to understand their expectations, challenges, and professional goals, thereby informing ongoing professional development and institutional support.
